Scientists say if you suck at dancing, it signals to women that you’re a bad mating partner. It’s a subconscious sign that your testosterone levels are lower than average, which means you’re not up to a lady’s baby-making standards. And your awkward moves on the dance floor may have evolved as a neon flashing sign to warn women to steer clear of you and your inferior DNA.
Practicing my salsa dancing basics with Azul Cielo. My place was going through remodeling so never mind the mess.
The other day someone ask me; “What would it be your perfect job?” – Dancing around the world. Matt definitely beat me to this amazing idea. 14 months in the making, 42 countries, and a cast of thousands. I think we need to invite Matt to come to Boulder for the 2009 video.
During new year’s eve I got together with probably Boulder Best Robot Dancers. We decided to have a friendly competition. This are not your typical popping dance moves. Watch the video and let us know who won;
The video camera didn’t have enough battery to film the robot dancing style I learned from David Elsewhere but here is a very similar example …

Carmen’s Birthday – a community cultural event , was a blast. Lots of people, friends, macondos, and dancers showed up to Carmen’s birthday last Sunday, July 13, 2008.
Thank you everybody for bringing delicious dishes and some interesting drinks.
Here are the pictures.
Carmen was born in 19 .. (I don’t remember now but I’ll check my database). It was in San Marcos, Guatemala, a small town in the western highlands where Carmen saw her first rays of sunlight and listened to beautiful music Latin music for the first time.
Her family moved to Guatemala City when she was around five years old. She is the oldest of four children with three brothers; Jorge, Roberto and Gustavo.
In 1977 she married Carl Nelson and had two boys; Gabriel and Chris. The Nelson family moved to Costa Rica in 1987 and she began taking dance classes from Liliana Valle. Three years later Carmen moved to Boulder and began teaching salsa dancing at Kake’s Studios in 1990.
She was a frequent participant at the Colorado Dance Festival from 1991 to its demise. Also, taught dance in the Boulder Public Schools, Dance West, Univ of Colorado Rec Center, Bantaba and other studios around town.
She formed Grupo Macondo with performances at the Boulder Public Library in 1995, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2004, and 2005.
Other accomplishments are;
Recently, Carmen has been living in different countries and cities always learning and enjoying the fascinating art of dancing. It has been her passion and the life’s love … and her family too.
I know Carmen would really enjoy sharing the celebration of her birthday together with you, our Boulder Cultural Community.
Come to this gran fiesta tomorrow July 13, 2008 at 7:00 pm @ Kake’s Studios. Share your passion for music and save a dance with Carmen.
Watch the “Something Special” video. From the “Death by Chocolate” album of De Phazz, a german band.
P.S. I’ll be enjoying this spring by running as much as possible under the Boulder Sun.
This is another YouTube video that has made me re-consider my dancing moves.
I think I have seen the shimmy-shimmy-clap-point-shimmy-baby-baby salsa move at Trilogy several times.
Pachanga Diaries goes Back to the Future. Since back in 1977 I was already fascinated by dancing. This picture shows my first dance with a kindergarten girl called Lucy. I have always been a very high energy boy … and curious.
We were dancing Vals. It wasn’t until ten years later that I was introduced to New Wave (yes, new wave. I know, I was a dancing freak out there on the floor) and then salsa dancing. I think I could handle it since I was five and a half. You can tell by my little smile. Little V. was thinking – “Me likey !” Picture circa January 1977
