Snobbish Mustache Meets Wine and Cheese Gallery
There is no greater blessing than an understanding friend, who’s there in times of trouble and on whom we can depend.
There is no greater blessing than a friend who always cares,One who will remember us in daily thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for your beautiful friendship
Never Forget and Snobbish Mustache meets …

Never forget …
the smell of a summer morning
… your senses … that love is an addition
… a sweet addition we can’t live without
… to smile while under the sun
… to cry
… how unforgettable are memories of love rushing through your heart when is raining
… and soft music is playing
… that black and white picture with friends at a coffee table
… how dancing slowly, stops time … the magic of rolling silly over the grass while laughing
… to kiss softly … to be playful
… to pet a little dog you have never seen before. – “hi, little fella” –
… how babies smile with their eyes … and how cute it is.
… to run listening to your favorite music … and without a destination – make your own little movie –
… to forget about yourself and let go
… be silly … and never wear a social mask … or pretend
… it is not easy to keep that balance
… it is life and nothing else
… lie on the grass under a tree and stare at the leaves … take pictures
… to say good morning to a passersby while looking into the his/her eyes and smile … the erderly
… how a sincere hug feels
… that your mind can literally drives you nuts if you let it. Therefore drink some wine or a beer to play some tricks on it.
… that I will come up with something silly to do in my birthday. ——————————————————-
What: This is a birthday theme celebration. What is the theme?
Snobbish Mustache meets Wine and Cheese
You have to wear a snobbish mustache to attend to this event.
- Bring a bottle of wine to share and something to hide it with
- Bring and play games; hoola hoola, badminton
- Bring some cheese and crackers to share and eat cheese
- Bring some snobbish conversation topics
If you are a snobbish philosofer, this is your time to shine. What about all those;
- Shakespeare Snobs and Wine and Cheese snubs
- Film and movie festival snobs
- Music snobs
I hope to be snobbish enough for my own snobbish birthday celebration (I’m more like a stray puertorrican dog than a snob. I’ve been told) Attitude: 90% of life is attitude and 10% percent is showing up. You should be willing to paint a snobbish mustache (like the one in the picture) and talk philosophical stuff while eating cheese and drinking wine. Then we are hitting the town for more drinks … yes, you guessed it, with the snobbish mustaches on. Where: I still haven’t decided but it looks like the Med unless someone else has a better more affordable idea. When: Wednesday, August 20, 2008 stating at 6:00 pm. at the Chautauqua park for;
- Wine and cheese. There will be hula hoops and balmington, frisbee and men’s wet t-shirt contests.
- Later, I’m planning for us to go to the Med for drinks and more aristocrat talking.
- Have you notice attitude is more important than where and when?
VERY IMPORTANT:
Leave a comment if you will be able to attend (below)
Running for President, seriously – Accomplishment #4
This is unbelievable. The power of the internet has generated enough traffic to the Pachanga Diaries that I was able to collect enough signatures to run for office. Here is how I made it to the ballot and now they are calling me a phenomenon.
Check out the News clip from channel 3 that was shown last night.
1. Everything started six months ago when I spent literally every evening working on a secret project; the power of self promotion . I read different books and decided to take action.
2. I used influential blogger and chat rooms to accomplish this. Once I built enough traffic to my website I decided to prepare a plan of action to solve the energy crisis. This was easy since I’m a mechanical engineer that works in a powerhouse, therefore it was easy to build credibility.
3. I kept blogging and interacting with people at the farmer’s market but especially through the internet and in chat rooms.
I guess I might not get elected as a president but they are already calling me the Phenomenon … amazing!
Never, never stop pursuing your dreams

I have already mentioned this one but … what that hell. It is my birthday after all.
Yes, accomplishment #3, supermodel (even though I haven’t made it that far. But I’m not a quitter).
The ideas are still welcomed. So far, Picnic Potluck is winning. There was an addition to this idea which is to go to the band on the bricks in downtown Boulder.
Any other ideas?

Extreme Climbing – Accomplishment #2
Continuing the countdown to my birthday here is the second accomplishment of my life; extreme climbing.
About a year and a half ago I decided to become an extreme climber. Not just a normal climber but an extreme one. I like living dangerously, fast and furious. That’s how I roll.
Enjoy and don’t try this at home.
P.S.
Potluck picnic at the creek is winning the Ideas for da’ bday contest.
Keep those ideas coming.
August Birthdays
Also, Kim, Rob and Hillary have a birthday in August as well.
Two Weeks from Today – Accomplishment #1
It is going to be that time again … my birthday.
I have been thinking about my accomplishments through out these thirty something years. Here is the first one of a series;
Accomplishment #1 – Photocrashing
Now, I was thinking to go to the Med on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 to get together and celebrate. But, someone always gets screwed paying more for his/her meal or someone who ate the most decided to split the check in equal parts instead of having everybody pay for what they ate.
So, I’m leaving the solution in your hands.
Actions:
Please, recommend an activity that doesn’t take advantage of my birthday for someone to profit. For example; potluck, get together at the reservoir, or everybody grab his/her own beer. Or picnic at a park for example.
Let me know of your ideas.

Carmen’s Birthday Pictures
Carmen’s Birthday – a community cultural event , was a blast. Lots of people, friends, macondos, and dancers showed up to Carmen’s birthday last Sunday, July 13, 2008.
Thank you everybody for bringing delicious dishes and some interesting drinks.
Here are the pictures.
Carmen’s Bio
Carmen was born in 19 .. (I don’t remember now but I’ll check my database). It was in San Marcos, Guatemala, a small town in the western highlands where Carmen saw her first rays of sunlight and listened to beautiful music Latin music for the first time.
Her family moved to Guatemala City when she was around five years old. She is the oldest of four children with three brothers; Jorge, Roberto and Gustavo.
In 1977 she married Carl Nelson and had two boys; Gabriel and Chris. The Nelson family moved to Costa Rica in 1987 and she began taking dance classes from Liliana Valle. Three years later Carmen moved to Boulder and began teaching salsa dancing at Kake’s Studios in 1990.
She was a frequent participant at the Colorado Dance Festival from 1991 to its demise. Also, taught dance in the Boulder Public Schools, Dance West, Univ of Colorado Rec Center, Bantaba and other studios around town.
She formed Grupo Macondo with performances at the Boulder Public Library in 1995, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2004, and 2005.
Other accomplishments are;
- Winner of the Mayor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts, 1995.
- Invited to teach at the Bates College Dance Theater short term, 1996.
Recently, Carmen has been living in different countries and cities always learning and enjoying the fascinating art of dancing. It has been her passion and the life’s love … and her family too.
I know Carmen would really enjoy sharing the celebration of her birthday together with you, our Boulder Cultural Community.
Come to this gran fiesta tomorrow July 13, 2008 at 7:00 pm @ Kake’s Studios. Share your passion for music and save a dance with Carmen.
Tom Swenson’s Birthday

While going to engineering school Tom lived in a frat house and wanted to learn the way with the ladies. He noticed that some frat boys hook up with girls after telling them stories about how wasted they got a night before and pot jokes. Young Tommy decided to learn as many pot jokes as his first technique with the ladies. He even spent some time researching other Frat houses and perhaps having a few “herbal smoke teas”.
He tried all the frat boys techniques on how to pick up women; burping, squeezing butt while dancing, screaming “Hey babe, you are hot”, farting on the first date, “Baby check-out-my-guns” lines, and other lines like; “you are awesome, baby”.
None of these techniques worked for young Tommy so after College he focused back to his career and forget about the way with the ladies. He went to law school and became a patent lawyer. While working in San Francisco, Tom read in the Princeton review that University of Colorado has been the number one party school for five consecutive days and he knew that he had to retake learning the way with the ladies in Boulder, Colorado. It is then, that he really found the source of information on how to seduce women, Latino men (sorry, I know this is a stereotype but it is part of this imaginary story). He started hanging out with an already famous puertorrican latino gigolo, Master Jose Fountains. Finally, he learned the way with the ladies.
A few years later, after been Fountains’ Apprentice, he became Boulder most wanted gigolo and decided to join a local Salsa dancing group, Macondo (that was a great time!!, we should have Macondo back in Boulder).
After seventeen years living in Boulder and running his own patent consulting firm, Tom has defined a new way with the ladies by defining first his look and behavior. For example, in his apartment, it has been said, that you can find; a nice wardrobe (including “Sexy Beast” and “Spank Me” T-shirts), all kind of massage books and creams, a very flashy Rolex and a hot tub in the bedroom (don’t bother to ask me where did I get this info. Won’t disclose my sources)
Tom’s dream job is to be a lifeguard living in a tropical island and enjoys smoking cigars and going to the gym.
Ladies of Boulder if you need an escort, Tom is the right choice for you.
Carl Nelson’s Birthday

Carl was born, raised and educated in New England, New Hampshire. He graduated from Darmouth College with a major in geology. Soon he decided to study rocks and earth’s layers in Guatemala for his master’s thesis.
While camping up in the mountains of Techalapaga he fought wild animals with his pocket Swiss army knife and ate “gourmet” spiders that can only be found in those mountains. Even though Carl was strong and nothing in the Guatemala’s jungle could get him sick, it was written in his destiny that his true love was going to save his life…
One day Carl received a package from a “Chimiguaro” (an Inca’s delivery system that employs high altitude Peruvian runners to deliver mail to the most hidden places in the jungle. 25% higher price if delivered by horse). Anyways, Carl received a bottle of Pepsi that got him sick right away. The Chimiguaro dragged Carl to the closest hospital to get attention. His fever was increasing and he started to loose conscious. Right before he pass out the blurry image of a beautiful latin woman show up in front of him and he heard how she was talking to another woman.
- “Mamá creo que haste se lo esta llevando la bruja y el seguro medico no le cubre aqui en Guatemala. Es un seguro medico gringo que ya sabes que no sirven pa’ na!!.”Translation: – Mother, the witch is taking the soul of this one and he has a graduated student insurance that doesn’t cover here in Guatemala. It is an American health insurance that anyways is worth nothing. We might have to take care of this one.
Two weeks later Carl woke up to find out he was saved by miss Guatemala 1990, Miss Carmen Reyna. After two years of romance Carmen and Carl got married and have been together for 27 years. At the beginning of the marriage Carl was taken to dancing classes “A punta de pistola” (at gun point) by Carmen who always enjoyed dancing and wanted to share the joy of dancing with her new husband. He has been part of Macondo since 1992 (… good times; sob!, sob!) when he started dancing salsa, meringue and boleros. For many years Carl was a geologist by day and a dancer by night. Currently, Carl is the president of a Panama natural resources company. His true call in life was discovered by him in the Afrolatinfest 2002 while taking a Hip hop class.
Ever since Carl has become a radical hip hop singer and dancer mixing Geological terms in his lyrics with Salsa rhythms. You can find Carl spinning on his head at Underground studios whenever he is in Boulder or at the “Dale Muchacho” Panama hip hop club on Thursday night singing for his fans.
Tomorrow night, (Wednesday, June 01, 2005) Carl will be in town dancing Salsa with all the ladies fans at Trilogy Wine bar.
Happy Birthday Carl.
