There is no greater blessing than an understanding friend, who’s there in times of trouble and on whom we can depend.

There is no greater blessing than a friend who always cares,One who will remember us in daily thoughts and prayers.

Snobbish Mustache Meets Wine and Cheese

What is a snob?

  • a person who imitates, cultivates, or slavishly admires social superiors and is condescending or overbearing to others.
  • a person who believes himself or herself an expert or connoisseur in a given field and is condescending toward or disdainful of those who hold other opinions or have different tastes regarding this field: a musical snob.

I don’t like the definition of a snob the way it is now. Let’s modify this definition by adding something like;

Snobbish people also help children in the developing world gain the lifelong gift of education

photo422

That’s sounds more like it.

Imagine having a conversation about Shakespeare, just a few years from now, with a little girl from Cambodia.

Room to Grow girls’ scholarship program has an immediate and direct influence on the lives of thousands of girls in the developing world. An education provides security and support to girls and enables them to make informed life decisions. In addition, a solid education is critical to improve the status of women, which provides a ripple of positive effects throughout society.

  • Providing girls one extra year of education beyond the average boosts eventual wages by 10-20 percent.
  • Infant mortality decreases by 8 percent for each year a woman stays in school.
  • In Africa, children of mothers who receive five years of primary education are 40 percent more likely to live beyond age five.
  • Family health and nutrition rise in the home of an educated woman.
  • Multi-country data show educated mothers are about 50 percent more likely to immunize their children than are uneducated mothers.
  • An educated woman has fewer children, so population growth is slowed in resource scarce countries.
  • A 65-country analysis finds that doubling the proportion of women with a secondary education would reduce average fertility rates from 5.3 to 3.9 children per woman

Room to Read (www.roomtoread.org ) makes a long term commitment to each girl on the program: as long as she attends classes and participates in Room to Grow activities, they will continue to fund her education through the completion of secondary school. This promise provides an incentive for her to do well in school and for the family to support her in her academic endeavors. Currently, the majority of our scholarship students range in age from 7 to 12. Thank you for being part of this new adventure in my life. I was lucky to have the opportunity to pursue and graduate from CU boulder graduated engineering school and would like to extend the favor to others less lucky. If someone ask you about your snobbish mustache tell them;

Let’s get together and celebrate August birthdays

What: This is a birthday theme celebration. What is the theme?

Snobbish Mustache meets Wine and Cheese

You have to wear a snobbish mustache to attend to this event.

  • Bring a bottle of wine to share and something to hide it with
  • Bring and play games; hoola hoola, badminton
  • Bring some cheese and crackers to share and eat cheese
  • Bring some snobbish conversation topics
  • I’m bringing liquid washable eye liner for the mustaches and a few hand mirrors

If you are a snobbish philosopher, this is your time to shine. What about all those;

  • Shakespeare Snobs and Wine and Cheese snubs
  • Film and movie festival snobs
  • Music snobs

I hope to be snobbish enough for my own snobbish birthday celebration (I’m more like a stray puertorrican dog than a snob. I’ve been told) Attitude: 90% of life is attitude and 10% percent is showing up. You should be willing to paint a snobbish mustache (like the one in the picture) and talk philosophical stuff while eating cheese and drinking wine. Then we are hitting the town for more drinks … yes, you guessed it, with the snobbish mustaches on. When/Where: Wednesday, August 20, 2008 stating at 6:00 pm. at the Chautauqua park for;

  • Wine and cheese. There will be hula hoops and balmington, frisbee and men’s wet t-shirt contests.
  • Later, I’m planning for us to go to the Med for drinks and more aristocrat talking.
  • Have you notice attitude is more important than where and when?
  • Remember to visit http://www.firstgiving.com/snubbishmustache

Never Forget and Snobbish Mustache meets …

Snubbish Moustache meets wine and cheese

Never forget …

the smell of a summer morning

… your senses … that love is an addition

… a sweet addition we can’t live without

… to smile while under the sun

… to cry

… how unforgettable are memories of love rushing through your heart when is raining

… and soft music is playing

… that black and white picture with friends at a coffee table

… how dancing slowly, stops time … the magic of rolling silly over the grass while laughing

… to kiss softly … to be playful

… to pet a little dog you have never seen before. – “hi, little fella” –

… how babies smile with their eyes … and how cute it is.

… to run listening to your favorite music … and without a destination – make your own little movie –

… to forget about yourself and let go

… be silly … and never wear a social mask … or pretend

… it is not easy to keep that balance

… it is life and nothing else

… lie on the grass under a tree and stare at the leaves … take pictures

… to say good morning to a passersby while looking into the his/her eyes and smile … the erderly

… how a sincere hug feels

… that your mind can literally drives you nuts if you let it. Therefore drink some wine or a beer to play some tricks on it.

… that I will come up with something silly to do in my birthday. ——————————————————-

Running for President, seriously – Accomplishment #4

August 11th, 2008
1 comment

This is unbelievable. The power of the internet has generated enough traffic to the Pachanga Diaries that I was able to collect enough signatures to run for office. Here is how I made it to the ballot and now they are calling me a phenomenon.

Check out the News clip from channel 3 that was shown last night.

1. Everything started six months ago when I spent literally every evening working on a secret project; the power of self promotion . I read different books and decided to take action.

2. I used influential blogger and chat rooms to accomplish this. Once I built enough traffic to my website I decided to prepare a plan of action to solve the energy crisis. This was easy since I’m a mechanical engineer that works in a powerhouse, therefore it was easy to build credibility.

3. I kept blogging and interacting with people at the farmer’s market but especially through the internet and in chat rooms.

I guess I might not get elected as a president but they are already calling me the Phenomenon … amazing!

Never, never stop pursuing your dreams

SuperModel – Accomplishment #3

August 8th, 2008

I have already mentioned this one but … what that hell. It is my birthday after all.

Yes, accomplishment #3, supermodel (even though I haven’t made it that far. But I’m not a quitter).

The ideas are still welcomed. So far, Picnic Potluck is winning. There was an addition to this idea which is to go to the band on the bricks in downtown Boulder.

Any other ideas?

Here is the updated birthdays list;

  • Kim – Aug. 11
  • Hillary – Aug. 14
  • Adriana – Aug. 17

Extreme Climbing – Accomplishment #2

August 7th, 2008

Continuing the countdown to my birthday here is the second accomplishment of my life; extreme climbing.

About a year and a half ago I decided to become an extreme climber. Not just a normal climber but an extreme one. I like living dangerously, fast and furious. That’s how I roll.

Enjoy and don’t try this at home.

P.S.

Potluck picnic at the creek is winning the Ideas for da’ bday contest.

Keep those ideas coming.

August Birthdays

Also, Kim, Rob and Hillary have a birthday in August as well.

Two Weeks from Today – Accomplishment #1

August 6th, 2008
No comments

It is going to be that time again … my birthday.

I have been thinking about my accomplishments through out these thirty something years. Here is the first one of a series;

Accomplishment #1 – Photocrashing

Now, I was thinking to go to the Med on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 to get together and celebrate. But, someone always gets screwed paying more for his/her meal or someone who ate the most decided to split the check in equal parts instead of having everybody pay for what they ate.

So, I’m leaving the solution in your hands.

Actions:

Please, recommend an activity that doesn’t take advantage of my birthday for someone to profit. For example; potluck, get together at the reservoir, or everybody grab his/her own beer. Or picnic at a park for example.

Let me know of your ideas.

V.

My Downtown Neighborhood

August 3rd, 2008
No comments

After four years of living in an apartment in South Boulder, I decided it was time for change. I said goodbye to the view to the mountains and an encyclopedia of memories. Good times ! I never realized that it was possible to live in downtown Boulder for just fifty dollars more of rent. Note to Self; Learn the mysterious femenine art of shopping. Apparently, there is a reason they just wander around looking for those discounted signs with big % symbols.

How did I find an apartment so affordable?

Glad you ask. On a Saturday morning after working at my favorite coffee shop, Saxy’s cafe, I decided to stroll around the neighborhood. Two blocks away from Pearl street I found this beautiful one bedroom apartment with a balcony and a view to downtown it was difficult for me to believe. So many whiskeys and cokes this one-bed has seen already. So many “tipsy” nights without having to worry about DUI’s. Remember, whenever in downtown stop by and we’ll get together to grab a beer at the Irish Pub..

How to Undo Her Bra with One Hand

August 2nd, 2008
No comments

After watching this video I realize it is time for a mental note. Let’s recap on how to undo her bra with one hand.

Non Socialite Pachanga Diaries has always been confused and fascinated by how women think.

Does she want me to want to want her?

Is she going to like this set of pots for Christmas?

- She has been talking about it the whole year.

What does she mean when she asks; What are you thinking?

- What? am I thinking right now?

Video Recap

  • Flowers
  • Romantic comedy
  • Listen more than I talk
  • Tasteful Jokes
  • Shave and spray
  • Tongue scrapping

Now, ready to make the move to second base. Soft kissing is obligatory as well as hair stroking … and more hair stroking.

Must remember; “the bra is my enemy“.

Cold hands are not sexy therefore I should wash my hand with warm water … and make sure they are dry.

Practice Luke, practice. The pinch is probably the most difficult part of this video. At least is what I’d heard …
